«Shape Optimization and its applications»
the GDR CNRS ANOFOR
"New applications for Shape Optimization",
by the Institut Élie Cartan (IECN Nancy)
20, 21 and 22th of October 2005
at the Institut Élie Cartan,
Université Henri Poincaré, Nancy 1

The goal of this meeting is to provide an overview on recent results concerning regularity or singularities in shape optimization and, more generally, in free boundary problems, in optimum design, optimal geometry, image segmentation, etc.
One specificity of this meeting is to aim at getting together experts from different groups : the usual participants to the CNRS GDR itself, mainly interested in shape optimization and its applications in various fields, but also experts in image processing who use similar mathematical tools (cf. Mumford-Shah conjecture); experts in singularities like for crack detection; or analysts from the calculus of variations, geometric measure theory or homogenization. This mixing of skills on different but connected problems from a mathematical point of view, should be fruitful.
This is the last meeting of the GDR ANOFOR started four years ago. This meeting will give the opportunity to synthetise the different works that have been presented during these four years. The goal is also to give prospects for a new GDR on a theme close to Shape Optimization.
The meeting will take place at Institut Élie Cartan, located on the Campus de l'Université Henri Poincaré, in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, in the neighbourhood of Nancy. In order to find the location, follow the link:
